Caddy Car Hire Tips

Insurance

All Hire Cars come with basic insurance. You, your passengers, other cars, people and property are all covered by this basic insurance. What is not covered is DAMAGE to the ACTUAL car you are driving.

You can either:

• Take no cover - you will be liable to pay for any damage up to the total excess amount, usually £1200-£1500. The Car Hire company will pre-authorise the excess on your credit card - cheapest but riskiest option.
• Take the Car Hire companies insurance - peace of mind, fully covered for every eventuality - always the most expensive option.
• Take a 3rd party annual Excess insurance policy - costs around £50 for the year and insures you for all the excess you are liable for. Should you decline the Car Hire companies insurance, the insurance company will pre-authorise the excess amount on your credit card. Should you be unlucky enough to incur excess charges, you will then claim all charges back in full from the 3rd party provider - This is the least risky, best value option.

Fuel

FULL to FULL - ALWAYS choose this option in the rental filter - ALWAYS return the car FULL - if you don't the Car Hire company will charge you a service fee £40-60 for refueling plus the cost of the fuel!!

FULL - EMPTY - This option will usually get you a better quote, however when you pick up the car the rental company will charge you for the tank of fuel. This is ALWAYS more expensive than at the pump, and you will be charged for every milliliter of fuel in the tank whether you use it or not.

Airport Pick Up

Picking up your car at the airport is ALWAYS the best option. Some rentals that offer free shuttle bus will be cheaper, and if you don't mind another journey this could save you a small amount, however, our experience is to ALWAYS choose Airport Pick Ups

Unlimited Mileage

Nearly all Car Hire rentals come with unlimited mileage however it's always good to check.
